Care During Pregnancy
As a new mother, you can use the principles of Ayurveda to take care of yourself during pregnancy and support the critical recovery period after your baby is born.
Pregnancy is a time when everything the pregnant mother tastes, sees, touches, hears, and smells should be nourishing to the mother and child. There are very specific recommendations that we give here at Ayushkaam Ayurveda to bring about a state of balance in the consciousness, mind, body, behavior, and environment of the pregnant woman.
Beyond managing the emotional ups and downs during pregnancy, Ayurveda also prescribes a variety of changes to the daily diet and exercise of pregnant women. Since Vata plays a huge role during pregnancy, pregnant women are encouraged to follow a primarily sattvic diet, do regular Pregnancy abhyanga (oil massages) and listen to specific chants.
Ayurveda can help you prepare the body for birth by influencing the smooth downward motion of the baby through the birth canal. It helps to soften the tissues and drive the energy in the direction it needs to flow for a healthy birth
Post-partum your vata increases because of the now empty abdomen, loss of fluids and blood, and decreased energy, creating an imbalance in the body often leading to postpartum anxiety. Here at Ayushkaam we explain how to counter the vata, heal from childbirth and set yourself and your baby on a path of health and balance in the future.
